I’ll use you as scapegoat – Rudeboy to sue X user over defamatory allegations

Date:

A Nigerian musician, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has announced his intention to take legal action against an X (formerly Twitter) user for making what he describes as “defamatory allegations.”

The P-Square star took to his official social media accounts to issue a public statement, expressing his frustration with the spread of false information and vowing to use the individual as a “scapegoat” to deter others.

While the specifics of the alleged defamatory statements have not been publicly disclosed, the musician’s post suggests the claims are severe enough to warrant legal intervention. His decision to sue is a strong message against the growing trend of social media users making unsubstantiated claims and spreading malicious rumors without facing consequences.

Rudeboy’s statement reads, in part: “I’ve instructed my lawyers to take up this matter. I’m going to make you a scapegoat… The internet is not a place for reckless and malicious libel.”

This is not the first time a Nigerian celebrity has threatened or taken legal action against social media users. The prevalence of misinformation and online bullying has led many public figures to resort to legal means to protect their reputation and set a precedent for others.
