Police arrest three suspects, rescue two-year-old kidnapped in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued a two-year-old kidnapped boy and arrested three suspects, including a family member of the victim, in connection with the crime.

Incident and Rescue Details

  • Victim: Godwin Abeson, a two-year-old boy.
  • Location: Sabon Pegi area of the Lafia Local Government Area (LGA), Nasarawa State.
  • Incident Date: The kidnapping occurred on October 14, 2025, at about 7:30 p.m.
  • Ransom Demand: The abductors had demanded a ransom of N15,000,000 (Fifteen Million Naira).
  • Rescue: Following a swift investigation and manhunt, the police rescued the child unharmed on October 16, 2025, and reunited him with his family.

Suspects Arrested

The three suspects arrested and currently in police custody are:

  1. Asabe Isah (The victim’s stepmother).
  2. Isah Umar (Asabe Isah’s husband and the victim’s father).
  3. Emmanuel Polycarp.

Preliminary Investigation: The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, stated that Asabe Isah (the stepmother) conspired with her husband, Isah Umar, to abduct the child. They then handed the victim over to Emmanuel Polycarp, who held him hostage and began making the ransom calls. All three suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime.
