Hausa Day, also known as World Hausa Day or Ranar Hausa, is observed annually on August 26.

It began as a social media initiative by Nigerian journalist Abdulbaki Aliyu Jari to promote the use of the Hausa language online and raise awareness of its cultural significance.

The observance has since expanded into international celebrations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas, even though it has not yet received formal United Nations recognition.

Hausa is one of the top languages in Nigeria.

It is also one of the most widely spoken languages in Africa and ranks among the top languages globally by number of speakers.
