The National Assembly has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a move that could signal an end to the long-standing dispute over her suspension.
The office, located in the Senate wing, was unsealed by the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, on Tuesday. A video of the action was shared, showing the red seal being removed from the door.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, was suspended for six months in March for alleged breaches of the Senate’s standing rules. This came after a dispute over the reassignment of her seat.
Although a Federal High Court ruled in July that the suspension was excessive and unconstitutional, the National Assembly had previously insisted that her return was contingent on a fresh resolution or a definitive court order. The unsealing of her office appears to be a significant step toward her potential return to legislative duties when the Senate resumes plenary on October 7, 2025.
