Mother seeks help to raise N14.5m for injured son’s surgery

Date:

Several months after sustaining severe injuries in a workplace accident, 31-year-old John Harrison Bodzah remains in critical condition and urgently needs financial support for life-saving treatment.

Speaking to Sunday Vanguard, his mother, Mabel Bodzah, said the accident left her son with serious injuries to his left arm and severe complications affecting his bladder and kidneys.

He badly injured his left arm and was moved from one hospital to another before he was finally admitted to a General Hospital.

Since then, he has been in severe pain, unable to eat properly and struggling to pass urine,” she said.

According to her, the family has exhausted all its savings trying to keep him alive. “Before the accident, John was a strong, hardworking young man. Today, he is fighting for his life. He lost his job, and we have spent everything we had on treatment,” she said. A medical report signed by Dr. Grace Gabriel, CEO of Full Grace Healthcare Services, Port Harcourt, confirmed that John suffered a complicated arm injury from a road accident, alongside chronic kidney disease and severe urinary complications.

The report stated that scans revealed obstructive uropathy caused by bladder outlet obstruction, with serious damage affecting both kidneys. Doctors have recommended urgent treatment, including kidney-related surgery, dialysis sessions and skin grafting for the injured arm, at an estimated cost of N14.5 million.

His mother disclosed that the first bladder surgery had already been carried out, but John still relies on a catheter and urgently requires further treatment to prevent additional complications.

“I am pleading with Nigerians and kindhearted individuals to please help save my son,” she appealed. Donations can be sent to: Account Name: Joshua Bodzah Bank: First Bank Account Number: 3036970550 For inquiries: 08162619099 , 08123875033.
