Police recover 75 stolen phones, five laptops in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has successfully recovered a large cache of electronic gadgets, including 75 mobile phones and five laptops, that were abandoned by fleeing suspects during a proactive patrol operation in the Ikeja area of the state.1

Details of the Recovery:

  • Date and Location: The recovery was made on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m., near the Allen Roundabout in Ikeja.2
  • The Incident: Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on routine patrol intercepted two suspects who, upon sighting the police team, immediately abandoned two large “Ghana Must Go” bags and fled the scene.3
  • Recovered Items: Upon inspecting the bags, the RRS team discovered a significant haul of valuables, including:
    • 75 mobile phones (comprising 32 iPhones of various models and 38 other smartphones like Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honour).4
    • Five laptops.
    • Several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, and a Sorapad.
  • Investigation: The Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, stated that preliminary investigations indicate the items are stolen property hurriedly abandoned by the suspects.5

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, noting that the recovery is part of the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and combating property crimes.

Public Appeal: The Lagos State Police Command has advised members of the public who may have lost similar electronic devices to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and to reclaim their property.
